Getting back into work after some time off? Its never been harder.

Whether you have had some time off or have just been laid off going back to work has never been harder. Salaries are at all time lows and the competition for places at jobs has never been more competitive. So what are the things you can do to increase your competitiveness?

1 . Take online courses to improve yourself. Udemy is great for this

  1. Get a mentor in the area you are trying to get a job in. This will not only help to get to know the role better but get you up to date with what is going on in that market
  2. Speak to your own colleagues. They will always be a great resource for you. They may even have some good ideas on how to get back in as well as some contacts which they can intro you in to help you get a new job.
  3. Read and get updated on up to date relevant information. For example if your interviewing in finance make sure you constantly read the media to prepare yourself for your interview
  4. Exercise regularly. This will give your brain oxygen and keep you mentally fit for when an interview comes along.
  5. Dont stress out. This will not be of any help to anybody.
